Good morning. The most interesting event of the day may happen late tonight. Andy BurnhamMakerfield’s Labor candidate and potential next Prime Minister is at this meeting BBC by-election Question Time special. Yesterday, Keir Starmer He said he did not accept Britain having two tiers of policing. this morning Lucy RigbyThe chief secretary to the Treasury is doing a round of interviews and told Sky News the claim was a “libel” against the police. When asked about the indictment, he said:

double quotesFundamentally, I think this is a smear on the thousands of police officers who go to work every day, who put themselves in harm’s way to serve the public, try to prevent crime, and keep us all safe.

The suggestion we have twostage Policing that essentially implies that the police put the interests of one group above another on some sort of systematic basis – I really think it’s a smear on all police officers who serve this country day and night, seven days a week.
