Oscar-nominated Persepolis author and director dies aged 56

First published in 2000, Persepolis tells the story of a young girl growing up during and after the 1979 Iranian Revolution, also known as the Islamic Revolution. Eight years later, the film adaptation, co-directed by Satrapi, was nominated for best animated feature at the Oscars.
