A marine drone reportedly exploded in Romania, sending thick clouds of smoke into the sky and prompting mass evacuations.

Local reports said the area was isolated and people nearby were evacuated. There was no loss of life.

The Ministry of National Defense states that the drone self-detonated and that it was not part of the equipment of the Romanian Army, but of the type used in the war in Ukraine, local outlet News.Ro in question.
