Congressman Yassamin Ansari called it a ‘national crisis’ and wrote: “Donald Trump I fell asleep in the Oval Office multiple times today. AGAIN. That’s why I called for the 25th Amendment, and dozens of my colleagues did the same. Donald Trump is not doing well and needs to be removed from office. “This is a national security crisis.”
This comes after US Secretary of State Marco Rubio recently told a congressional committee that questions about Donald Trump’s mental acuity were “absurd and ridiculous.” Mr. Rubio sought to defend his boss amid growing public concerns about the U.S. president’s mental and physical health.
Mr. Rubio, who testified during the congressional hearing, was shown several video clips in which Mr. Trump, 79, was seen with his eyes closed while speaking next to Mr. Rubio.
“I don’t even know how to respond to that other than to tell you it’s absurd and ridiculous,” Mr. Rubio told the House Foreign Affairs Committee. he said.
“You may not like his policies, you may not like the decisions he makes. But I can assure you that this is not a sleeping or cognitively impaired president in any way, shape or form,” he said.
“And he’s actually incredibly active, in many cases much more active than the younger people around him. These are facts.”
