SC directs execution of settlement in Ardee group family dispute

The bench, comprising Justices J K Maheshwari and Atul S Chandurkar, took note of the report submitted by the mediator appointed by it and directed the parties to implement the same.
The property dispute involving the Ardee Group involves late Ashok Varma’s daughters Shefali Varma and Shibani Varma Kapur over control of the family’s real estate assets and business interests.
The apex court appointed former high court judge Justice Kurian Joseph as mediator to help the parties reach an amicable solution.
“Considering the seriousness of the problem, we recommend that the parties apply for mediation and that the senior lawyers representing the parties agree to mediation.
“With the consent of senior counsel on both sides, we request the former Judge of this Court, Justice Kurian Joseph, to burn the midnight oil and assist in an amicable solution if possible,” the bench said in its order. he said.
Judge Joseph had previously submitted an interim report to the panel stating that the parties had successfully resolved their significant disputes through mediation. The mediator informed the superior court that additional time would be required to prepare a comprehensive solution framework and complete the implementation process.
Taking the report into consideration, the Supreme Court granted time for the implementation of the compromise and instructed the parties to maintain the agreed terms.
In the interim report submitted to the delegation, it was stated that the parties reached a solution to their important disputes.
