DGCA Probes Damage to 3 Parked Aircraft

Mumbai: The Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) launched an investigation into the incident in which three Air India planes were damaged at Indira Gandhi International Airport in Delhi.
According to the official statement, all three aircraft were grounded for inspection and maintenance.
The incident occurred at Terminal 2 on Sunday, when ground support equipment crashed into a parked narrow-body A320 aircraft during adverse weather conditions. “Three Air India A320 aircraft parked at Delhi Airport terminal-II were damaged due to ground equipment/foreign object debris (FOD) during adverse weather conditions around 4.30 pm (on Sunday),” the statement said.
Officials said that strong winds caused the ground equipment in adjacent stands to shift from their places and hit two planes at different points, causing damage. The right sliding window of another plane was also damaged.
The ground equipment involved belonged to Air India Engineering Services Limited and IndiGo and was displaced due to sudden inclement weather.
DGCA is examining the circumstances that led to the incident.
