New York was thrown into turmoil overnight as Knicks fans filled the streets and celebrated the team’s historic comeback victory over the San Antonio Spurs.
Wild fans raved about the team’s 107-106 win in the Big Apple; The win came after the Knicks came from behind by 29 points to make the biggest comeback in NBA Finals history.
As the city went wild, some fans were seen taking their celebrations too far and many were arrested. The NYPD did not immediately confirm how many people were arrested Wednesday night.
Clips spread on social media show people climbing on police cars and street signs, setting off fireworks and fighting in the streets.
A fan wearing an orange Knicks jersey was arrested for allegedly setting off explosive devices and fireworks; moments before a second shirtless man was filmed being arrested by cops.
In other videos, an NYPD vehicle and a yellow taxi were destroyed by dozens of enthusiastic fans; A man broke the windshield of a vehicle while holding a Palestinian flag.
In another ugly incident that took place after the match, footage showed star Spurs player Victor Wembanyama being hit by an object while getting off the team bus to return to his hotel.
The NYPD said it has also launched a manhunt for the suspects who attacked a Spurs fan on his way back to his hotel after the Texas team’s humiliating loss.

The NYPD released several security images of the suspects allegedly attacking a Spurs fan after the game.
The wild scenes came after New York City officials and Madison Square Garden CEO James Dolan were criticized for not hosting an official viewing party outside the arena, and the city implemented extensive security measures in midtown Manhattan.
But the massive police presence and security measures did little to calm the city after the win, which came after numerous arrests after the previous two Knicks playoff games.
While many Knicks fans rejoiced in the comeback victory and partied into the night on Wednesday, some targeted Wembanyama when he returned to his hotel, sparking ugly scenes.
In the footage, it was seen that an object was thrown at the 1.80-tall French man as he walked towards the entrance of the Ritz-Carlton hotel in midtown Manhattan.
Wembanyama ducked as the object grazed his head and hit a nearby street sign.
The actor was rushed in and the NYPD did not make any arrests.

The pop megastar was taking action off the field without her fiance, Travis Kelce, who was unable to join her in the Big Apple while she was at a mandatory three-day minicamp with the Kansas City Chiefs in preparation for the 2026 NFL season.
Swift was a mainstay of the game’s broadcast, as she went viral on social media for dancing and celebrating during the game’s final moments.
Elsewhere in the chaos, Timothee Chalamet looked like a man who had witnessed a miracle, and Sandler and Chris Rock were distraught.
But there was something notable missing on Wednesday night. Donald Trump, whose Game 3 appearance was met with a huge chorus of boos and left after watching the Knicks lose, was nowhere to be seen.
