After a first half for the ages, USMNT fans were dismayed when star Christian Pulisic did not return in the second half of the United States’ World Cup opener against Paraguay.

A native of Hershey, Pennsylvania, who plays football for AC Milan, he assisted the second goal scored by USA’s Folarin Balogun and was one of the team’s most notable players throughout the first half.

However, when the team emerged from the tunnel, it was revealed that Pulisic was favoring Sebastian Berhalter, the son of former USMNT player and coach Gregg Berhalter.

The problem is that the team did not give any reason as to why the change was made.

In the live broadcast of FOX Sports, Pulisic reportedly told the family in the stands that he was fine.

After the USA completed the 4-1 win, USMNT head coach Mauricio Pochettino shed light on why the star was included. According to The Athletic’s Tom Bogert, Pochettino said Pulisic kicked him in the shin, which caused some tension, and that the decision to take him off was purely precautionary.
