Podcaster Joe Rogan revealed Saturday that President Donald Trump responded with an apparent joke after the podcaster expressed concerns about a possible terrorist attack at UFC Freedom 250 at the White House on June 14.

Recalling the meeting with UFC champion Justin Gaethje and MMA trainer Trevor Wittman, Rogan said he feared being killed by terrorists at the widely covered event.

“I said to Trump, ‘I hope we don’t die in a terrorist attack,'” Rogan said. “‘We have to go somehow,’ he says.”

Rogan said he was caught off guard by the president’s response.

“And I was like, ‘What the hell, man?’ “I ask,” Rogan said, laughing.

The exchange came after Wittman said he was uncomfortable attending the event due to the high-profile venue and potential security threat.

“I was really nervous, Joe,” Wittman said. “I was like, ‘Man, we’re here with everyone again and something could happen.'”

Ministry of Justice said It reported that on June 16, five people were arrested and charged for allegedly planning to attack government officials and others attending the event. Federal authorities allege the alleged conspirators discussed using explosives-laden drones near the event to force an evacuation and then using snipers to fire on fleeing targets.

Gaethje, who defeated Ilia Topuria in the main event to win the UFC lightweight title, said he accepted the possibility of danger before entering the Octagon.

“Damn,” Gaethje said. “How epic would that be if I was let out in the middle of the cage?”

Gaethje said that the same scenario could be unforgettable, but he did not want to experience it.

“Everybody will remember this forever,” Gaethje joked. “But no, I’ll pass,” Wittman jokingly replied.

Rogan added that the night is better remembered for Gaethje’s win rather than any safety incident.

“It’s better off this way,” Rogan said. “It went this way, it’s much better.”

“This was one of the largest events any sporting event has ever held,” Rogan said. “So maybe it’s the biggest sporting event in world history.”

He argued that the White House setting, military elements and Gaethje’s upset victory gave the fight card historical weight.

“This will never happen again,” Rogan said. “This is more historic than Rumble in the Jungle.”

UFC Freedom 250 was held on the South Lawn of the White House on June 14 as part of events tied to the nation’s 250th anniversary and coincided with Trump’s 80th birthday.
