Horror on Sydney river with one man dead and young girl missing

A man has been found dead in the Parramatta River, prompting a desperate search for a young girl in Sydney’s west.

The man was found in the water at Hen and Chicken Bay in Concord just before noon Saturday.

Emergency services attended the scene and police were told the man was seen with a child in a small boat.

Police said the girl was described as being approximately six or seven years old and could not be located.

The man has not yet been identified.

“Police established a command center at the scene and launched a search operation to locate the girl,” NSW Police said in a statement. he said.

“More specialist resources have been requested to assist in the search.”
