But Victoria Beckham proved she still has a sense of humor with her hilarious speech as David unveiled his star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame on Friday night.
The 52-year-old Spice Girl took to the podium to honor her husband but made a cheeky joke about her own career and her starring role in the critically anticipated film about her band Spice World.
He reflected: ‘The Hollywood Walk of Fame, where I grew up in England, was one of those iconic things you only see in movies; It was a way to immortalize people who were successful in their fields and truly left their mark.
‘Naturally I thought I was coming here today to collect my star for my role in that iconic cult classic Spice World: The Movie!’
As the crowd dispersed, Victoria paid a sweet tribute to her husband of 27 years, noting his ‘fire, determination and ambition’.

After her speech, Victoria couldn’t resist putting on the PDA with David, 51, and grabbed his face to kiss him.
The 52-year-old Spice Girl made a cheeky joke about her band Spice World starring in the critically-acclaimed film (she’s pictured with her bandmates on the film’s poster).
Victoria said: ‘Most of you will know David as an athlete, businessman and activist, but behind those titles there is a man always defined by his character.
‘His drive, determination and ambition are known to all, but I would also like to recognize his kindness, loyalty and commitment to the people he loves.’
After her speech, Victoria couldn’t resist packing on the PDA to grab David, 51,’s face and give him a kiss.
The Beckhams’ long-time friend Tom Cruise was also present at the opening and gave his own speech during the ceremony.
‘Long before the trophies, the sold-out stadiums, the global fame, the recognition, there was a young boy with a dream and the determination and discipline to win everything that came after him,’ the actor said, according to Page 6.
A source close to the Beckhams told the Daily Mail: ‘This is a full circle moment for David.
‘She never thought at the time that she and Tom would become friends, but they did, and there was only one person who could make the commencement speech on David’s behalf.
‘The date night to watch Jerry Maguire is something both David and Victoria look back on fondly.’
David and the 63-year-old Mission Impossible star have been friends since 2007, when the footballer signed a contract with LA Galaxy.
Among the crowd was the couple’s friend Eva Longoria and their children Romeo, Cruz and Harper.
However, Brooklyn did not attend the ceremony, even though the opening was about 20 minutes away from her estranged son’s multimillion-dollar mansion at Trousdale Mansion.
Smart-looking David chose a navy blue suit for the occasion, while Victoria wowed in a figure-hugging gray satin dress.

Speaking in an interview with Variety magazine on Friday, David admitted he never dreamed he would get a star.
He said: ‘All I ever wanted to be was a successful footballer for Manchester United and England.
‘That’s all I cared about. I didn’t care about the fame, the wealth, the admiration you received.
‘All I cared about was being a football player. So now to have a star, to be ‘Sir’, all these things that come with my career, I feel very lucky.’
The athlete added: ‘I actually haven’t received any offers from Hollywood. Honestly, I like to stay in my own lane.
‘I did a few roles in Guy Ritchie’s movies, but they were just for fun. Me and him were having a glass of wine and he said, “Do you want to be in this movie?” he asked.
‘Actually, this is what happened. […] Hollywood? ‘I’m not sure I’m there yet.’
Those attending the ceremony were asked to line up at the southwest corner of Hollywood Boulevard and Highland Boulevard and wear their favorite football jersey.

‘David Beckham’s recognition as a Hollywood Walk of Fame star in the Sports Entertainment category comes as the United States prepares to host the FIFA World Cup.
‘Beckham’s role in raising the profile of soccer in America and his enduring impact on sports, entertainment and global culture makes this honor especially meaningful.’
