Three killed as truck goes out of control in M.P.

An out-of-control truck crashed into a car, crashed into a bus and crashed into a bridge in Madhya Pradesh’s Katni on Sunday, June 14, 2026, killing three passengers on the bus and injuring 29 people, police said.

The accident took place near the Industrial Area bridge under Kuthla police station limits when the bus carrying around 35 passengers was on its way from Katni to Vijayraghavgarh Kymore when the truck came from the opposite direction, Superintendent of Police Abhinav Vishwakarma told PTI over phone.

In the first investigation, it was stated that the truck driver lost steering control due to brake failure.

Due to the impact, the bus overturned and many passengers were trapped. In the operation, which lasted more than 35 minutes, a crane was used to lift the bus and rescue the passengers.

Local residents participated in the rescue operations along with police personnel and administrative officials.

Police said the deceased passengers were Kishan Kol (30), Neelam Prajapati and Raju Choudhary.

Mr. Vishwakarma said one seriously injured girl was shifted to government medical college and hospital at Jabalpur divisional headquarters, while others were treated at the district hospital.

The truck driver was also injured.

Eyewitnesses said the collision triggered panic and passengers were trapped inside and under the overturned bus. One person was stuck in the cabin of the truck.

The accident disrupted traffic on the Katni-Vijayraghavgarh Road for about an hour before it was repaired, police said.
