Exemptions the main feature of Canberra’s new KPMG ban

Dozens of Australian Civil Service and Commonwealth statutory bodies have been exempt from a three-month sin-bin moratorium on new publicly slapped jobs Beleaguered Big Four consultancy KPMG because financial reporting platforms run on software licensed by the company to the government.

The Ministry of Finance issued a fresh warning to the government on Monday that KPMG “will not be bidding for any new Commonwealth work” until September 30. This warning stated that “Commonwealth authorities should not enter into any contract with KPMG for any approach to the market which will end between 16 June and the end of September.”
