NEET-UG 2026 Re-Exam Today Amid Tight Security

New Delhi: The National Eligibility and Entrance Test (NEET)-UG 2026 re-examination will be held on Sunday and authorities across the country will implement extensive security and logistical measures to ensure a smooth and fair examination process.
More than 22.79 lakh candidates are expected to appear for the exam at 5,440 centers across 551 cities in India and 14 centers abroad.
Commenting on the regulations, Union Minister Ramdas Athawale said that the Center has taken stringent measures to prevent any malpractice during the examination.
“Earlier, there was a fraud in the NEET exam which caused serious inconvenience to people. The Government of India has taken very stringent action. Those responsible should face severe punishment. We regret that students have to retake the exam. We hope there will be no irregularities,” Athawale told reporters.
In Prayagraj, Uttar Pradesh Deputy Chief Minister Keshav Prasad Maurya said efforts were being made to ensure that the review was conducted in an orderly manner.
“Earlier, whenever there was a glitch in any exam, the government’s effort is to conduct the exam in an orderly manner. Efforts are being made in this direction,” Maurya said. he said.
Babloo Kumar, Joint Commissioner of Police (Law and Order) in Lucknow, said comprehensive security arrangements have been made at 75 examination centres.
He said a three-tier police deployment system has been implemented, which includes safe transportation of question papers and answer sheets, police presence at every centre, and stringent body search procedures for candidates.
Kumar added that candidates will be allowed to carry only admit cards, ID cards and photographs, and pens will be provided in the examination halls. Intelligence units and cyber monitoring teams were also activated to prevent any disruption or misinformation attempt.
In Noida, officials inspected examination centres, including Bhawani Shankar Inter College in Sector 46, where CCTV cameras and jammers were installed to prevent malpractices.
Joint Commissioner of Police Rajiv Narayan Mishra said that NEET will be conducted in 23 centers in Gautam Buddha Nagar district. Article 163 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) was implemented and special traffic regulations were made.
In Varanasi, Additional Commissioner of Police (Law and Order) Shiv Hari Meena said that 47 examination centers have been set up. Special arrangements were also made for candidates arriving at train stations and bus stops.
Meena said that social media platforms, cyber cafes and photocopy shops are monitored, and people who were previously involved in exam-related crimes are under surveillance. Approximately 25,000 students are expected to take part in the exam in the city.
In Karnataka, preparations have been completed at centers in Kalaburagi and Bagalkot and officials confirmed that jammers, CCTV cameras and search systems have been installed.
Superintendent Sampath Lamani said the Bagalkot center is ready to accommodate 240 students with drinking water and safety measures. Deputy Commissioner Sangappa stated that there are 11 examination centers and 3,967 candidates in Bagalkot city.
Delhi Police also inspected the security arrangements at Prime Minister SHRI Kendriya Vidyalaya in Masjid Moth, one of the centers identified for re-inspection.
In Haryana’s Ambala, 270 police personnel have been deployed at seven examination centres. DSP Jagbir Singh said 11 police check posts have also been set up to manage traffic and ensure security.
Similar security inspections and readiness exercises were conducted in Vadodara and Rajkot of Gujarat, Agartala of Tripura and Chamba of Himachal Pradesh.
In Rajkot, DCP Rakesh Desai said 12 examination centers have been set up where police and CISF personnel have been deployed for security and safe transportation of examination materials.
West Tripura District Magistrate Dr. Vishal Kumar said that all National Testing Agency (NTA) requirements have been fulfilled in nine examination centers in Agartala, CRPF and state police personnel have been deployed to ensure a smooth examination process.
Officials in the states said stringent search protocols, surveillance systems, intelligence monitoring and extensive police deployment will be implemented to ensure that the NEET-UG 2026 re-examination is conducted in a safe and transparent manner.
