100 Vehicles Seized In TG Anti-Overloading Drive

Hyderabad: The transportation department seized 100 vehicles during its statewide enforcement against overloading, authorities said Sunday.
Inspections were carried out in the districts in order to control road damage and reduce accident risks. A lawsuit was filed against vehicles that were found to carry loads above the permitted limits.
Officials said overloaded vehicles damage roads, put undue pressure on bridges and increase the likelihood of accidents. Mines, quarries, sand fields, industrial units, transport operators and vehicle owners have been advised to comply with the specified load limits.
The ministry warned that action would be taken against violators under the Motor Vehicles Act. Quarries, companies and other organizations found responsible for overloading vehicles will also be notified.
Repeated violations will lead to stricter penalties, including suspension of vehicle permits and driving licenses in accordance with legal provisions, it said. The ministry added that such enforcement efforts will continue across the state, focusing on road safety.
