The Met Office issued yellow weather warnings for extreme temperatures in 90 areas across the country on Wednesday, warning that hot weather could lead to power outages. The forecaster warned that sweltering conditions could cause “heat-sensitive systems and equipment” to fail, leading to “power outages and loss of other services to homes and businesses.”

An extreme heat warning is in effect for London and South East England from 12:00 on Wednesday until 23:59 on Thursday, as temperatures are expected to exceed 30 degrees. The Met Office has warned that the hottest areas could reach a sweltering 38C, while night temperatures will remain above 20C.
