Race-by-race preview and tips for Hawkesbury on Tuesday
John Schell
Selections based on a soft part.
Race 1
2. Galactic Power He made his first start for a new stable by finishing fourth at this track two starts ago and then managed to finish second at Kembla Grange. 1. Capon It was held safely while continuing at Wyong, but should be better for this run and a huge improvement is on the cards. 4. Yes Arnie He ran well as he finished third at this circuit before his midfield effort at Moruya. 8. He Got Ole Swagger He failed to beat a runner at home on his debut at Wyong, but picked up where he left off after two tries, winning the last one at Rosehill.
How to play: Galactic Power to win.
Race 2
10. Crown Princess He was placed on two successive runs at Gosford last campaign, completing that circuit before finishing fifth when he was so unbeaten at Canterbury on January 1. After two tries it continues here. 7. Blessed Express He went from second at Scone to first from the spell, beaten less than a length and a forward showing is on the cards again. 2. Incremental He followed up a few seconds at Newcastle and Canterbury with a final-start finish of fourth at the Kensington circuit at Randwick. 3. Master Johnny He led on his second run at Newcastle in his second start.
How to play: The Crown Princess will win.
Race 3
2. Movie Night He returned from a spell twice, finishing second each at Kembla Grange and Newcastle. It’s back in good order and ready to break through. 1. State Secret Moving on he ran well at Wyong and just needs to make that effort to be tough to hold on again. 10. Stardust Memories He has made two starts and failed to settle in either, but looks capable of improving and making an impact. 3. Fimiston He wasn’t disgraced in his debut.
How to play: Movie Night for the Win.
Race 4
9. Internal Affairs He made two starts at Inglis Nursery and showed plenty of ability by finishing fourth behind Fireball on his debut. After two good tries, he’s back here and getting ready to move forward. 11. Meteorite He makes his debut on the back of two trial wins at Canterbury and this track deserves respect. 8. Radicals He ran well when placed at this track on his debut and could be around there. 7. Peace of Our Lady He has appeared in his last three starts and can do it again.
How to play: Internal Affairs will win.
race 5
10. Beginning He improved from his spell last time when he finished third after a fast race at Gosford where he finished second. He should make a good start from the draw here and provide a bold perspective. 3. Pentagon He was quite the fancier when replaced on his return to Wyong and was worth giving another chance based on his previous form. 5. Squeeze Box He won before the third last start at Illawarra Grange. 9. Choose Diamonds He’s not far off in either run since he’s moved on and deserves respect.
How to play: Start to win.
race 6
6. Iron Fury He was racing well at Gosford seconds before being written off and followed up with a solid enough fourth as favorite at Scone after two trials. Pulled away to get a good run. 5. Escargoes He got back on the field and raced home to take an easy win on this track and just needs to repeat it to be in the firing line again. 7. Kosrae He took two consecutive wins at Bathurst and Illawarra Grange, while finishing seventh in his last start at Gosford, where he was unbeaten. 9. So Damn Subtle He held the line well at Scone last time and should not be underestimated.
How to play: Iron Fury in both directions.
race 7
1. Abandonment He fought back well to finish third on his first start in Australia. He should be better for this run and have the ability to continue the work. 5.Portsmouth He is an import who is improving in his second Australian start at Warwick Farm and can make money here without any surprises. 11. Naughty He had every chance when he was last starting third at Canterbury and has the talent to change that. 14.Vondel After a spell in second place I completed the job to score narrowly against Wyong.
How to play: Abandonment in every way.
race 8
13. Call Me Spoiled He has a consistent record with wins and six placings from seven starts. He finished first at this track in his second start in October and finished second in each of his three starts in preparation. 7. Wow Nellie It looked good to get two wins in a row as they were moving on from a spell at Randwick before disgrace at Midway. 8. Yachiyo He’s moving on after two tries and has shown enough in his career to make an impact for this company. 10. Graphics Vision He was down the road at Warwick Farm when he first came out of the spell and was able to thrive without being surprised.
How to play: Call me Sassy to win.
