While the recall poses a serious risk to people with nut allergies, consumers are warned not to eat affected products if they are allergic to nuts.

The Food Standards Agency (FSA) issued an allergy alert following the labeling error, warning that the products could cause reactions in people with nut allergies.

The affected products have expiration dates of June 21 and June 22, 2026, meaning some customers may still have the donuts at home.

Only products supplied from Krispy Kreme’s Peterborough manufacturing facility will be affected by the recall. Donuts produced at the company’s other locations are not included.

“We are recalling our limited-time Pitch Perfect Donut because it may contain nuts (hazelnuts) that are not specified on the package or at the point of sale,” Krispy Kreme said in a statement. he said.

The company added: “The affected products were sold in stores supplied from our Peterborough donut site.”

Customers with hazelnut allergy or intolerance are advised not to consume the products at all.

Instead, they must return the affected donuts to the store where they were purchased to receive a full refund. Krispy Kreme said customers do not need to provide a receipt to request their money back.

The company has also contacted relevant allergy support organizations to help spread awareness of the recall and ensure people at risk are informed.

Recalls of foods containing allergens are taken particularly seriously because even small amounts of an undeclared ingredient can trigger potentially serious reactions in people with allergies.

The FSA regularly issues allergy alerts when products pose a possible risk to consumers and urges affected customers to check recall notices carefully.
