Bradford explosion: Huge bang heard outside Costa Coffee shop | UK | News
Emergency services swarmed a retail park in England after a massive “explosion”. Members of the public reported hearing a loud explosion in the Bolton Woods and Frizinghall areas of Bradford at around 10am on Sunday, March 29. Shortly afterwards a fire engine from West Yorkshire Fire and Rescue Service was seen in the car park. Costa Brown Shop on Stanley Road off Canal Road.
Figtherfighters responded to a badly damaged parked car with its sides crumpled and windows shattered on the surrounding ground. Yorkshire Ambulance Service (YAS) also sent an emergency response unit and ambulance. They confirmed one person was taken to hospital.
One of the citizens said that after getting out of the vehicle, they heard a “big explosion” and saw people “in shock”.
They told The Telegraph and Argus: “I was sitting drinking my morning coffee when I heard this huge explosion.
“I assumed it was an accident but when I looked there was nothing until a fire truck pulled up in the Costa car park and the team started examining a car.
“Those inside appeared to be OK, thankfully, but they appeared to be in shock and were checked by the ambulance crew.”
West Yorkshire Police also attended, sending a minibus and two cars. Officers were seen talking to firefighters next to the vehicle before the two men drove to Costa.
While the fire brigade left the scene at 10.50, the police and ambulance teams remained at the scene. All emergency services then left, but the car remained parked.
