Phil Foden splashes out on new jewellery for his girlfriend Rebecca Cooke during a day out in Cheshire after he missed out on England’s World Cup squad

Phil Foden made the most of his summer holiday by going jewelery shopping with girlfriend Rebecca Cooke on Thursday after missing out on a place in England’s World Cup squad.

The 26-year-old Manchester City star was left out of Thomas Tuchel’s squad for the US earlier this month after blaming ‘mental fatigue’ for his poor performance this season.

Phil braved the scorching heatwave to head to Cheshire with Rebecca, who wore a stylish navy blue jumpsuit.

The midfielder will return to City for pre-season training on July 15, after which the club will travel to Asia for a series of friendly matches in early August.

Phil and Rebecca have been childhood sweethearts since their teenage years after meeting at a party. They are parents of three children.

The couple welcomed their first child, Ronnie, in 2019, their daughter True in 2021, and their second son in June 2024.

The Manchester City star was left out of Thomas Tuchel’s squad that traveled to the US earlier this month after blaming ‘mental fatigue’ for his poor form this season.

In an interview with Manchester City, Phil talked about being there for Ronnie’s birth, saying: ‘I was there for the birth.

‘I walked out of the room, shed some tears and then walked back in like nothing had happened.’

Phil was left out of Tuchel’s World Cup squad last month due to his lackluster home performances.

While the midfielder scored 10 goals and 7 assists for City, England’s German manager opted to leave him out of the squad in place of Morgan Rogers, Jude Bellingham and Eberechi Eze.

Earlier this season, Foden blamed ‘mental fatigue’ for his poor form. ‘I just need a few weeks of rest without playing football and obviously I can’t do that at the moment,’ he said.

Speaking at Tommy Fury’s boxing fight earlier this month, Phil said he was still looking forward to attending the tournament from home.

‘I’m looking forward to this,’ he said. ‘Of course I will watch England. I hope they are successful, I support them. ‘I believe they can win.’

However, Nico O’Reilly, Foden’s teammate from Manchester City, who will take part in his first World Cup, stated that the English star was ‘gutted’ for missing the tournament.

Speaking to reporters at England’s luxury team hotel in Kansas City, Missouri, at the weekend, O’Reilly said: ‘I spoke to Phil and he was gutted. I played with both of them (Foden and Cole Palmer) and they are amazing.

‘It’s unfortunate they didn’t make the squad and they will be gutted but now it’s time to rest and prepare for next season.’

The couple previously sparked engagement rumors when Rebecca was spotted wearing a large diamond ring on her ring finger last year.

At the time, it was reported that the Premier League star took Rebecca on a romantic trip to Paris for New Year’s Eve, where he proposed.

In the photos, Rebecca, who has been with Phil since they were both teenagers, can be seen trying to hide the massive ring while out and about.

“The two have been together since they were little kids and their family and friends have been waiting for them to get engaged for some time,” a source told The Sun.

‘It’s time for Phil to ask the question. ‘He took her to Paris for New Year’s Eve and when they returned Rebecca had a sparkling diamond ring on her engagement finger.’

They continued: ‘The ring is absolutely huge. It’s a very big diamond. ‘He loves it and is proud to wear it, although he hasn’t made any statements about it.’
