Australia, UK to ink 50-year deal to underpin AUKUS

Australia and Britain will make a 50 -year agreement to support the delivery of the Nuclear Nuclear Salture Agreement, due to concerns about the US -trium’s review of the United States.
Founded between Australia, England and the United States in 2021, Aukus was designed to ensure that Australia’s nuclear -energy attack submarines in the 2040s to address common concerns about China’s rising military ambition.
However, this year, the Trump administration has initiated a review of the agreement to examine whether it meets the “American first” criteria, and after doubts about the future of the 368 billion dollar program.
Defense Minister Richard Marles said the US was confident about the future of its participation in Australia and the United Kingdom.
Together with Foreign Minister Penny Wong and British colleagues John Healey and David Lammy, Mr. Marles said, “It is an extremely important treaty that we will sign.”
“We constitute a part of a three -sided agreement we have, and we really trust that all three countries have progressed to implement it.”
In a joint statement, the ministers said that the Treaty to be signed in Geelong on Saturday will allow “comprehensive cooperation ında on the design, construction, operation, maintenance and disposal of AUKUS submarines.
The statement will also support the development of personnel, labor, infrastructure and regulatory systems for Australia’s nuclear energy submarine program.

Mr. Lammy said the agreement showed the power of Australia and the British commitment to Aukus.
“It is clear that the UK-Australian relationship is an anchor in a very variable world, a relationship that keeps stability in problematic waters and whatever paths of geopolitical winds are blowing,” he said.
Mr. Healey said he was sure that Britain could fulfill his obligations within the scope of the agreement to deliver the SSN-AUKUS submarines.
“We have technology and designs in order to provide our commitments to SSN-AUKUS and we will do it,” he said.
Australia will pay $ 5 billion to support and produce nuclear reactors to strengthen future Aukus submarines.

Australia will buy at least three virginia -class nuclear energy submarines from the US in the early 2030s.
On Sunday, ministers will visit Darwin to observe common military exercises known as Talisman Sabre, which constitutes more than 30,000 personnel than 19 militants.
This year, war games include the British carrier Strike Group, the first UK carrier strike group to visit Australia since 1997, the flagship of the flagship HMS Wales.
