West Bengal Congress to step up protests over NTA question paper leaks

The West Bengal Pradesh Congress Committee has decided to step up protests following repeated leaks of question papers in the country. Protests will be held in Kolkata as part of a national campaign organized by the Congress to raise the issue of distress faced by students who frequently die due to paper leaks

Prasenjit Bose, city coordinator of ‘Chhatron Ki Goonj’ said: Hindu It was stated that the number of NEET candidates from West Bengal is over one lakh and the total number of students who appeared for the exams conducted by the National Testing Agency (NTA) in the last one year is 3.5 lakh.
“NTA started operations in 2016 and there have been 89 cases of paper leakage in eight years,” Mr. Bose said. The Congress leadership in West Bengal will stage protests on August 1 demanding the resignation of Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan.
Addressing a press conference on June 25, State Congress President Subhankar Sarkar said that the National Testing Agency (NTA) has become a “National Trauma Agency” for millions of students.
“Our struggle is not just about NEET. It is about saving an entire education system that is currently in the ICU. Paper leaks, recruitment scams, vacancies, expensive coaching systems, endlessly postponed exams and unemployment have shaken the confidence of young Indians. Today, the world’s largest youth population is facing one of its most insecure futures. The Education Minister and the NTA cannot escape responsibility for this crisis,” the West Bengal Congress chief said.
Along with Congress leader Prasenjit Bose and Subhankar Sarkar, Supriya Shrinate, head of social media and digital platforms of All India Congress Committee, was also present at the press conference.
The Congress launched the “Chhatron Ki Goonj” campaign across the country on June 17, 2026, with Rahul Gandhi’s student convention in Kota, Rajasthan. This 40-day campaign will be held in 28 major cities and will attract students, job candidates, coaching centres, college campuses, libraries and youth groups across the country.
As part of the campaign, the party will begin distributing leaflets, student aid drives and street corner meetings in 28 cities from June 30. During the month of July, the party will also organize weekly programmes, campus outreach activities and Ambedkar Dialogues. On August 1, 2026, gerao The first phase will be completed with the ‘Delhi Chalo’ march, bringing together collectors from all 28 cities and students from across the country on 9 August 2026 to ensure that their collective voice reaches the Government of India.
