Paper Leaks A Day Before Maharashtra TET, Exam Postponed

Pune: The Teacher Eligibility Test (TET) 2026, scheduled to be held in Maharashtra on Sunday, was postponed after a raid at Bhiwandi in Thane district found some people having several questions similar to the actual question paper, officials said.

According to a statement issued by the Maharashtra State Examination Council, “The Council remains committed to conducting the examination with full transparency. Considering the seriousness of the situation and the need for an in-depth investigation, the examination scheduled for June 28, 2026 has been postponed.”

According to the Thane district administration, the breach came to light in the early hours of Saturday when Bhiwandi Police acted on secret intelligence about people having unauthorized information about exam papers.

Thane district administration said, “A raid was immediately conducted at the suspicious place. Senior officials from the Maharashtra State Examination Council were immediately summoned by the police to verify the seized materials. After close examination, it was confirmed that some of the questions in the possession of the suspects matched the actual question paper prepared for the June 2026 TET.” he said.

A formal criminal case has since been registered at Bhiwandi Police Station and a thorough investigation is ongoing.

Expressing its policy of zero tolerance towards malpractice in the investigation, MSCE stated that the postponement was necessary to ensure absolute transparency and to allow law enforcement agencies to conduct an uncompromising, in-depth investigation into blackmail.

The council urged candidates not to trust rumours, and announced that the revised dates and updated schedules for TET 2026 will soon be published on the council’s official website.
