President’s Trophy Boat Race on January 10

Ashtamudi Lake will host the President’s Trophy Regatta and Champions Boat League (CBL) final on January 10. Finance Minister KN Balagopal instructed the officials to complete all necessary arrangements to ensure smooth conduct of the event. Nine boats, including women’s teams, will compete on the 1,100-metre course from Thevally Palace to the boat jetty near Kollam KSRTC bus stand. Advanced technology will be used during the competition to ensure the results are accurate and transparent. Various art and sports programs will be organized to promote the event. There were discussions about holding cultural walks as well as art forms like Kathaprasangam and Vanchippattu. Friendly matches in football, tug of war and Kabaddi are planned in the coming days with the participation of teams headed by MPs, MLAs and District Collectors.
