Trump nominates Lance Schroyer as ICE director

President Donald Trump has nominated Lance Schroyer to head U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE), who has become the face of his administration’s tough immigration crackdown.
Trump announced his candidacy on the Truth Social platform on Saturday and called on the Senate to confirm Schroyer.
Schroyer is a former Oklahoma state trooper and former U.S. Marine. Trump described him as a patriot.
The position became vacant after acting ICE director Todd Lyons announced he would resign months ago.
ICE has become a symbol of Trump’s aggressive immigration policy in his second term.
The agency has conducted controversial immigration raids in Democratic-led cities with officers wearing masks to hide their identities. The operations sparked widespread protests across the United States.
Public outcry intensified after two U.S. citizens were fatally shot by federal officers from multiple agencies during an operation in Minneapolis in January.
