With the closure of a series of shops and the bank, England was a difficult year for High Street. The upper and down towns of the country will lose more sites in August as businesses continue to be shot with increasing costs.

Retaraners such as Sinsbury’s, Aldi, Iceland and Homesense closed stores this year. In the meantime, River Island can be exhausted on the verge of collapse and only in weeks. A total of 33 stores were allocated for closing hundreds of jobs.

Budget retailer Poundland confirmed that 68 branches would be closed after being sold to Gordon Brothers, the owners of Pepco’s investment company Gordon Brothers last month. Part of the agreement included a restructuring plan.

Bank Santander will also close the branches throughout England in the coming weeks. It comes in the midst of a change towards online and mobile banking in customer preferences.

Smaller independent enterprises also fought this year. A shop in Huddersfield was forced to close after receiving only £ 300 during February, while a beloved shoe shop closed after a century of trade.
