Miss Jenkins’ position behind David could have been a potentially awkward affair after he previously informed her in a leaked email nine years ago that she had failed to get an OBE.
After sitting in a similar position last year, he once again found himself sitting a few meters away from the former footballer but did not interact with him.
In a series of leaked emails published in 2017, Sir David allegedly criticized the Welsh singer and questioned why he had been awarded an OBE after failing to achieve a knighthood.
One email allegedly read: ‘Katherine Jenkins OBE for what? Singing at a rugby match, going to see the soldiers and also smoking cocaine. ‘It’s a fucking joke.’
The opera star was awarded an OBE in 2014 for her services to various charities and traveling to war zones to entertain soldiers. Sir David will be named King George III in November 2025 for his services to sport and charity. He was officially knighted by Charles.
The hacked emails also made allegations about his stance on the Scottish referendum and his investment in loss-making companies to reduce his tax bill.
Sir David’s representatives denied the allegations at the time, stating that the emails were “hacked and altered” from a private account.
Katherine’s position behind David could have been a potentially awkward turn of events after David said he had failed to get an OBE in a previously leaked email.
Nine years after the OBE row came to light, Katherine was reunited with David, joining husband Andrew Levitas at the event.
At one point, the opera star turned away as Sir David turned towards the second row, where Katherine was sitting to take a selfie with her mother.
A spokesman said: ‘This story is based on old material taken out of context from hacked and doctored private emails received from a third-party server and deliberately gives an inaccurate picture.’
Katherine and Sir David were allegedly at odds years ago when Katherine took to Twitter in 2012 to deny online rumors of an affair; This decision reportedly left the England star completely enraged.
In 2018, Katherine claimed she was still waiting for an apology from the sports star for comments he allegedly made in leaked emails.
Speaking about Sir David’s shocking comments towards her, Katherine admitted she had no reason other than to be proud of her achievements.
He explained: ‘You’re just minding your own business and get caught up in this big storm. You just think, “Oh, I wasn’t doing anything.” It wasn’t nice to get caught up in this. I don’t know why this is directed at me again.
‘Also, I don’t feel the need to defend this. ‘I know what I’m doing and when I received the OBE it was given to me for music and charity purposes.’
Asked if she was angry at Sir David for his alleged comments, Katherine added: ‘It’s absolutely disappointing. “I haven’t heard anything from them about it.”
Elsewhere at Wimbledon, stars turned out in dazzling force, with TV presenters Tess Daly and Amanda Holden, Irish reality star Maura Higgins and more dazzlers.
