Smith set to continue winning week at Hawkesbury

Matthew Smith is looking to continue his winning streak by sending a sizeable team to the Hawkesbury on Thursday.
The Warwick Farm trainer enjoyed a double win at Newcastle last Saturday in addition to his Ready To Shine score at Rosehill and will begin the Hawkesbury attack when starter Sill Sausage starts in the July 19 2YO First Handicap (1000m) Family Funday, which also includes Braith Nock.
“She is a Cool Aza Beel filly who had two trials leading up to her debut and was second at Rosehill in the last one,” Smith said. “He should run a good race.”
Cool Rupert (Jay Ford) and Master Of War (Tyler Schiller) will represent Smith in the St Johns Park Bowling Club Maiden Plate (1600m).
“Cool Rupert has been through the spell a few times and is ready to come out on top, while Master Of War performed well at the Hawkesbury on his last start and has a good overall record without winning,” Smith said.
Mount St Helens (Ford) makes her stable debut after three attempts in the Sterilin Super Maiden Plate (1300m), while second start winner Cosmic Order (Ashley Morgan) competes in the Noelene Turner Memorial Class 1 Handicap (1000m).
“Mount St Helens is a mare by Brutal who has a solid foundation for her first start and finished third in her second trial at the Hawkesbury,” Smith said.
“And Cosmic Order was making his second start and held up too well to go far and win at the Hawkesbury. He needs to get plenty of beatings again.”
Last start Dubai Warrior (Siena Grima) will run in the Good Luck James Heddo Benchmark 64 Handicap (1600m) race.
“He started again at Gosford the other day and finished third with a solid effort and it must have been hard to hold on,” Smith said.
Consistent Honey Perfume (Claire Ramsbotham) will start in the Clarendon Tavern Conditional Benchmark 68 Handicap (1100m).
“He had a good win in his last start at Newcastle and has only missed the bench three times from 17 starts,” Smith said. “Everything indicates that he runs well.”
