Man armed with screwdriver dies while being restrained at bottle shop next to Bracken Ridge Tavern

A man said to have been armed with a screwdriver died while being restrained by workers and members of the public at a bottle shop north of Brisbane.
The 36-year-old man reportedly used a screwdriver when he caused a disturbance at Harry Brown’s, a liquor store located in the Bracken Ridge Tavern, on Wednesday night.
He later lost consciousness while being restrained.
Emergency services were called to the scene on Barrett Street in Bracken Ridge just after 8pm.
Police teams performed heart massage, but the man could not be revived.
An investigation was launched with a report to be prepared for the coroner.
Harry Brown’s and Bracken Ridge Tavern were open for business as usual Thursday.
The pub shared its condolences to the man’s family and friends in a statement on Facebook.
“We also support our staff and citizens who have to assist during a serious security incident,” the statement said.
“This incident ended tragically but we appreciate the bravery of everyone who helped at the time.
“We are proud to have been a part of this community for decades and want to thank the community and everyone affected by last night’s events for their support today.”
