Frankie Dettori seriously injured in Newmarket car crash

Jockey Frankie Dettori’s management said he suffered several broken ribs and a broken thumb after being involved in a car crash.
A spokesman for H Talent Management confirmed the collision took place near Newmarket in Suffolk on Wednesday evening.
They said another vehicle struck the rear passenger side of the car driven by the 55-year-old driver, causing the vehicle to spin and roll over.
Dettori, who remained in hospital for further scans and observation, was still being assessed for his injuries.
H Talent Management said: “Frankie would like to thank the emergency services who attended the scene, along with the doctors, nurses and wider medical team who attended to him.”
“His focus is now on rest and recovery. H Talent Management respectfully requests that Frankie’s privacy be respected at this time.
“There will be no further comment until a meaningful update is provided.”
Dettori has not ridden in Britain since October 2023, when he won the Championship Stakes on King of Steel at Ascot.
However, he would return to race the Leger Legends at Doncaster during the St Leger Festival in September.
H Talent Management called Wednesday’s crash an “accident.”
The collision is believed to have occurred just over the Cambridgeshire border and the county police force has been approached for comment.
