Naidu, Pawan, Chouhan launch VB-G Ram G scheme in Tirupati district

Little-known Mukkavaripalli in Obulavaripalli mandal of Tirupati district shot to fame with the nationwide launch of Viksit Bharat Guarantee for Rozgar Ajeevika Mission Grameen (VB-G Ram G) scheme, which came into force on Thursday, July 2, 2026.

Chief Minister Nara Chandrababu Naidu, Deputy Chief Minister Pawan Kalyan and Union Agriculture Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan inaugurated the program by laying the foundation stone of a farm pond to signal that the revamped version of the rural employment guarantee scheme prioritizes farmers’ welfare as well as rural development.

Speaking on the occasion, Mr. Chouhan said that Prime Minister Narendra Modi has targeted to build 74,212 houses in Andhra Pradesh under PMAY and has approved funds to connect villages through 146 rural roads.

“With ₹422 crore allocated for Andhra Pradesh, the government of India is keen to develop roads and pucca houses in the state,” he said.

The minister also offered to supply 2.16 lakh metric tonnes of Totapuri mangoes through the market intervention plan. “This is the Centre’s support to help realize Mr. Chandrababu Naidu’s dream of making Rayalaseema a horticulture hub,” he said.

The delegates later planted ten varieties of saplings such as teak, neem and eucalyptus at the venue.

Mr. Pawan Kalyan, who holds the Panchayat Raj portfolio, conceived the project to plant wood-yielding tree varieties to generate income for the panchayats in the future. He also told Mr. Chouhan about the idea of ​​Wood Bank.

The three-layer magic drainage model that ensures clean disposal of water was demonstrated to the Union Minister. The first layer of 100mm gravel is 30cm thick, followed by 40mm gravel and then 20mm gravel.

In a photo exhibition at the venue, Mr. Chouhan reviewed images of success stories in Andhra Pradesh, model panchayats, zero liquid discharge panchayats and geotagging for greater transparency.
