Indian railways made a big decision to prevent fraud in the online railway ticket reservation system. The identities of more than 2.5 Crore users of the Indian Railway and Tourism Company (IRCTC) have been disabled. The movement was taken after determining suspicious railway ticket reservation models and fake users. The government gave a detailed statement of the last attempt after questioning the government in the ongoing parliamentary session of MP AD Singh.
Fake IRCTC Account Identity Removed
Before the government disabled this account identities, Tatkal ticket reservation option faced tremendous problems. It was also noticed that real users made a reservation to Tatkal, which was used to close the reservation window in minutes. This problem emerged in a few minutes due to automatic boots that will reserve hundreds of tickets, and real users fought to secure tickets. However, after this initiative of Railways, real users will provide great relief.
During the parliamentary session, the government also brought some major changes to promote approved ticket reservation and digital reservation.
IRCTC New Reform Rules
According to the new rules, allocated tickets can be reserved on the basis of “First, First Service” in the online or computerized passenger reservation system (PRS) meters. However, these days, approximately 89% of the total tickets are reserved through online platforms. Digital payment facilities are available in PRS meters.
The government mandate to reserve Tatkal tickets from 1 July 2025 after it was verified by AADHAAR cards through the IRCTC website or application. The new rules also prohibit the reservation of Tatkal tickets within the first 30 minutes after the opening of Tatkal reservation. The waiting list of trains is monitored regularly and Indian railways operates special trains to meet excessive demand.
Railways also made many changes in the emergency quota. So far, the emergency quota ticket reservation applications have been sent on the same day as travel, but after that, the applicants need to send applications the day before. This quota is only available for MPs, senior officials, medical emergency situations and the elderly.
