Tom Hardy reportedly staying on ‘MobLand’ as creative issues get ‘worked through’

Tom Hardy will reportedly not be removed from “MobLand” as tensions continue to rise ahead of the third season.
Earlier this week, reports emerged that Hardy had been written out of Ronan Bennett and Jez Butterworth’s series due to issues with Helen Mirren and Pierce Brosnan.
Sources told Diversity He said Thursday that Hardy will not be written out of the series and that “the door is not closed on Season 3 and everything is being worked out creatively.”

A production source said Hardy had a problem with Butterworth turning in scripts late, sometimes just a week before shooting. “Tom loves getting ready,” a second source added.
Butterworth is not on the “MobLand” set, according to a production source. But other sources said Hardy had weekly Zoom calls with Butterworth.
“The door is not closed for Season 3 and things are being worked on creatively.”
Multiple sources told Variety that Hardy occasionally requested rewrites of the script, and that was difficult to do without Butterworth on set.
“He’s generally very strong-minded,” one source said of Hardy. “And he wants these things to be taken seriously. Jez [Butterworth] I don’t have time to deal with these notes, so it becomes problematic.”
Another source said that Hardy was not used to “working with TV directors” and tended to “travel them all over the place”.

“He is used to working with some of the best directors in the world,” the source added. “So when all of a sudden a TV director comes in, he struggles, and to some extent, he’s able to run them all over because they’re afraid of him.”

“MobLand” is a gritty crime drama that delves deep into the dangerous world of organized crime, loyalty and power struggles. Set against the backdrop of a brutal underworld, the story follows characters torn between family ties, betrayal, and survival as rival factions struggle for control.
A source said earlier this week: Hollywood Reporter He said that Hardy would keep Mirren and Brosnan waiting on the set. “He refused to leave his trailer for hours at a time,” the source said.

“He kept the players waiting, [which is] a power play. “I’ll bet it was career suicide to keep Pierce Brosnan, Helen Mirren and the rest waiting.”
But Mirren doesn’t seem to have any hard feelings. HE He shared a photo of Hardy “Love you now and always Helen,” he wrote on Instagram on Thursday.

It’s unclear whether “MobLand” will be renewed for a third season. If the Paramount+ show is greenlit for another season, THR reports that production would begin in September.
