UK Chinese food company now in administration – in business since 1984 | UK | News

A family business that has been supplying Chinese food to restaurants across the UK for decades has gone into administration. Ming Foods Limited is the latest food company to find itself inadvertently on state-run job postings site The Gazette, as Kent’s pastry professionals run out of steam.

The company operates from Maidstone Road in Swanley, Kent, and has been in business since 1984. Founders Mr. and Mrs. Minh started their business modestly from their own kitchen before expanding into a restaurant and then a manufacturing business.

But things haven’t been going so well lately. Accordingly Company ControlTheir total short-term liabilities have been increasing steadily since 2020, and both their net worth and cash have also been decreasing since then.

Ming Foods Limited specializes in the production of Chinese Pancakes, which they describe as “premium” on their website. In addition to producing crepes, they also use innovative ideas to improve the quality of their products, such as adapting a pasta roller into equipment that makes crepes.

Open Companies HouseThey have three outstanding payments, although their full accounts have not been made public since 2024.

The notice was formally delivered to them on June 24 and the administration process will be overseen by Steven Wright of Dains Group in Scotland.

They have also had problems with management lately. Just before the company went into administration, they appointed a manager for six days, who was then dismissed.

They also distribute across the UK and EU to eastern wholesalers who supply the product to supermarket chains and restaurants.

They also produce spring roll wrappers and double-proof self-rising flour.

It is unclear at this stage whether both trades have stalled or whether jobs are at risk, but we have contacted both the company and executives for comment.
