Rep. Nancy Pelosi’s husband, Paul, was charged with a misdemeanor four years ago after an alleged hit-and-run near where he drove under the influence.

Paul, 86, is accused of crashing into a car parked unoccupied on the side of the road just after 2:30 p.m. on Thursday in Yountville, a small town in California’s Wine Country.

He crashed into a parked car as he approached the stately vineyard estate he shared with Speaker Emeritus Nancy in the upscale St. Helena.

A newspaper report at the time said Paul would be charged with misdemeanor manslaughter. In the end, no charges were filed and he was exonerated by a coroner’s jury.

His brother had warned him to drive slower before the fatal crash, according to a patrol officer cited by the San Francisco Examiner.
