This ‘America the Beautiful’ rendition before the France vs Paraguay match will give you goosebumps
The 4th of July pre-match festivities before the France-Paraguay World Cup Round of 16 match will be remembered as one of the biggest organizations in history. Yes, it might seem a little strange to celebrate an awe-inspiring American cultural moment that involved no American teams, but hear me out.
On Saturday at Philadelphia Stadium (Lincoln Financial Field), the field was transformed to resemble the American flag, complete with additional performers and pyrotechnics. The Philadelphia Boys Choir and Chorus then delivered a performance for the ages with a stirring rendition of “America the Beautiful” in honor of America’s 250th birthday.

As the choir sang, two young people (one White young man and one Black young lady) presented what I would describe as spoken word; spoken word poetry that highlights the beauty of our nation’s founding, especially as it relates to the City of Brotherly Love.
“An idea found its voice in this city 250 years ago,” the young man said.
“It’s not perfect. It’s not over. But she’s brave enough to believe in people,” the young woman said as the chorus hummed.

As the choir sang, they described how America’s principles of life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness led to unthinkable freedom and the 2026 FIFA World Cup that would eventually “unite the world.”
Other ceremony elements included Miss Pennsylvania, Stephanie Skinner dressed as Lady Liberty, and a Navy flyover. It will make you cold.
