Nigel Farage erupts at Sky News reporter in airport clash: ‘Go away!’ | Politics | News

Nigel Farage clashed violently with a leading Sky News reporter over the finances of Reform UK at a busy airport and demanded the camera crew stop filming immediately. In the dramatic video clip, which has been shared widely on social media platforms, including by UK News presenter Dan Wootton, the veteran politician appears clearly agitated, points his finger directly at them and tells the crew to “Cut!” He appears to have given instructions. At one point he barks: “Go away.”

Mr Farage accused the broadcaster of repeatedly harassing his family during the tense standoff at the airport. The incident stems from recent scrutiny of Mr Farage’s financial arrangements. Reports, especially Sunday Times and The Times revealed that Mr Farage failed to fully declare the benefits provided by the crypto entrepreneur and his partner George Cottrell, who has previous convictions for wire fraud in the US. The assistance allegedly included security and social media staff, as well as accommodation in a mansion near Buckingham Palace the year before Clacton became an MP. Reform UK argued these were personal gifts rather than political donations, which required registration.

In the video, Mr Farage confronts the reporter directly, denying wrongdoing and insisting he was following the rules. He gets more and more excited and warns the channel: “There will be serious consequences if you continue.”

Mr Farage described it as harassment towards his non-political daughter, referring to a photograph of his private residence published by The Times. A Sky News spokesman has firmly and repeatedly denied contacting or harassing any members of his family in relation to the story.

Mr Farage, who has long been critical of the mainstream media, has positioned himself as a populist outsider fighting an establishment biased against him and Reform Britain. This latest flare-up comes amid wider pressure on the party following a strong performance in recent elections and by-elections, in which Reform capitalized on public discontent over immigration, taxes and net-zero policies.

He has faced multiple inquiries into his finances, including questions about a £5 million gift from another donor, Christopher Harborne.

The outburst highlights the intense media scrutiny faced by high-profile politicians, especially those who challenge the status quo. Supporters on social media saw Mr Farage’s response as a justified pushback against perceived bias, while critics saw it as evidence of a politician being shaken by legitimate questions about transparency.

Mr Farage has repeatedly denied any breach of the rules, with the leading politician insisting: “I have done nothing wrong.”

The episode adds to Mr Farage’s history of combative encounters in the media, from past clashes over Brexit to more recent debates over law and order and economic policy.

Such high-profile moments underline the personal toll of political life in the spotlight, as the Reformation UK looks to make further gains ahead of potential future elections. Mr Farage remains a polarizing figure: a beleaguered truth-teller to his base; Compared to his rivals, he is a leader whose finances and connections deserve much closer scrutiny.
