The Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam (TVK) seems keen on elected MLAs leaving the Legislative Assembly and is not interested in developing the State, Amma Makkal Munnetra Kazhagam leader TTV Dhinakaran said in Madurai on Saturday (July 11, 2026).
Speaking to media persons, he said that the resignation action of six AIADMK MLAs was nothing but horse trading. TVK feels that by reducing the number of MLAs in the Assembly, it will be safe even if there is any danger to its government in the future.
Mr. Dinakaran, on behalf of the six MLAs, said that they were deceiving the people in their respective sections of the House.
“The people voted for the ‘two leaves’ symbol of the AIADMK. Quitting office and joining another party showed that they have no respect for the people. The six MLAs failed to fulfill their duties and responsibilities,” he said.
Assuming that a motion of no confidence has been passed in the Parliament, TVK is in an advantageous position according to the numbers when the votes are counted. Mr. Dinakaram alleged that his managers, therefore, sacked the MLAs (six from the AIADMK) for an “evaluation”.

He said that in real terms, the TVK government or Chief Minister C. Joseph Vijay does not seem to be engaged in the development of the state. “Even on Friday, the CM had chosen to attack the DMK during his visit to Karur, recalling the incident last year in which 41 people died and is currently being investigated by the CBI,” he added.
Mr. Dinakaran also said that TVK got 108 seats, which is about 35% of the votes in 234 seats in the TN Legislative Assembly. NDA had received 23% votes. Therefore, it must be noted that the people have not given absolute authority to either TVK or Mr. Vijay. “TVK is not sure if it will be able to go on the road safely for the next five years. To make sure there are no problems, [TVK] “He set out to weaken the other party by asking MLAs to resign to help reduce their numbers in the Assembly.”
He said the CM should address the Opposition party leaders with dignity. “HE [Vijay] He came to power only because of his familiarity with the celluloid world, and people did not vote for him for any service to the poor. He should also understand that with his celebrity status alone, this may not work for many years. Therefore, it is better to maintain good manners in public places,” said Mr. Dhinakaran.
