Horror as British boy, 2, killed after plunging from 4th floor balcony on Cyprus holiday | World | News

A British little boy died after falling from the fourth floor of a hotel while on holiday with his family in Cyprus. The incident reportedly took place on Sunday evening at a hotel near the seaside village of Chloraka in the Paphos region of the island, where the family had recently arrived for summer vacation. According to local news, the little boy, thought to be about two years old, fell from a fourth-floor balcony.

Emergency services, who received notice of the incident shortly before 18.40, took the child to Paphos General Hospital, but doctors could not save the child. It was reported that the family checked into the hotel on Saturday and will stay on the island until the end of this month. The couple also has a 5-year-old daughter who was with them on holiday.

He allegedly fell through an open corridor window onto the main veranda on the hotel’s first floor. Tr Filenews reports.

Cyprus police arrested the 37-year-old father after launching an investigation into the incident.

As reported by Cyprus Post, He was arrested at 22.15 on Sunday on suspicion of causing death by a reckless, negligent or dangerous act, neglecting his duty as the head of the family and failing to fulfill his responsibility as a person caring for someone else.

The father is expected to appear in the Paphos district court on Monday morning; where the police will request his detention to facilitate ongoing investigations.

An autopsy examination will be carried out by forensic pathologists Angeliki Papetta and Orthodoxos Orthodoxou at the morgue of Nicosia General Hospital at 12:00 on Monday.

The police continue their investigation by taking statements from the child’s parents as well as other people who were in the hotel at the time.

The circumstances surrounding the incident are being investigated and the scene has been cordoned off.
