Right on cue, England get a new pool table for their World Cup HQ… after the FA went looking on Facebook Marketplace

England got a lucky break when the pool table they ordered to relax in their hotel failed to materialize.

Just then, an eagle-eyed FA official spotted one for sale on the Facebook market and quickly snapped it up for Harry Kane and the rest of the Three Lions squad.

The Three Lions were disappointed that a pre-arranged pool table did not arrive, even though it was ordered before it arrived at team headquarters in Kansas City, Missouri.

But within hours of arriving at the £260-a-night hotel The Inn at Meadowbank, they had stormed to victory, beating Croatia 4-2 to top the table.

Lynne Brown, who lives near England HQ, had put her pool table up for sale as part of a house cleaning and was stunned to receive a message from an FA official.

A member of the logistics team asked him if an item he ordered had not arrived and ‘was his still for sale?’ He explained what he said.

Speaking to the Daily Mail from Florida, where she is on holiday, Ms Brown revealed how she cut the deal with the FA for the pool table, knocking $50 off the $750 asking price.

He added: ‘Here’s a sentence I never thought I’d say: ‘We sold our pool table to England’s World Cup team.

‘We feel we have a really special bond with the English team. We know if they win the World Cup it will come down to the pool table.

‘They have a wonderful table, it’s in very nice condition.’

The table was safely transported to British Headquarters in Kansas City to entertain the Three Lions.

He continued: ‘It was random. We listed it on Facebook marketplace and I got a message asking if it was still for sale, I said it was and they came right away. This was not on my bingo card.

‘They were so nice and so willing to buy the table, so I gave them $50, I think I gave them quite a discount, they were so happy to get it as they were disappointed.

‘I understand they have a ping pong table and video games but they really wanted a pool table as well and we’d be happy to help.

‘They came to pick it up two hours after I messaged me on Facebook Marketplace. There were six big men, all British, and they picked him up and took him into the back of a lorry.

‘We had this table for 20 years and had great memories of it, the kids used to play on it and my husband and I used to play on it but it wasn’t used anymore so we sold it.

‘I’m telling you, there’s a lot of good energy around the table and hopefully some of that rubs off on the England team and they win the World Cup, that would be fantastic.’

Asked by the Daily Mail if she would spend the money to go to a World Cup match, Ms Brown joked: ‘Are you kidding? ‘The tickets are so expensive we’ll watch it on TV.’

A source close to the FA said: ‘The boys wanted a pool table, the hotel didn’t have one so they tried to get one but it didn’t work.

‘One of the logistics people looked on Facebook Marketplace, found it, contacted the seller and we came to an agreement for it.

‘It is now in the foyer of the hotel and is used regularly by players and staff, alongside other entertainment on offer such as table tennis and board games.’

The table was handed over after the Mail on Sunday revealed how equipment belonging to the Three Lions was stolen by delivery drivers en route from Florida to Kansas.

Erfan Kamal, 35, and Mustafa Salik, 40, have since been charged with receiving stolen property and face up to seven years in prison if convicted at a hearing scheduled for next month.

Both men are currently in custody and are expected to attend a bail hearing this week where the District Attorney will ask them not to go within 300 meters of the hotel or training facility in England.
