Police Investigate Death of South Africa World Cup Football Player Jayden Adams

Cape Town: Police said on Monday they were investigating the death of South Africa World Cup football player Jayden Adams after his body was found at a property in Cape Town this weekend.
Adams, 25, died two weeks after helping South Africa reach the knockout stage of a World Cup for the first time.
Authorities did not disclose the cause of death.
“Cape Town central police have launched an investigation into the investigation following the discovery of the body of a 25-year-old man on Saturday,” police said in a statement sent to The Associated Press. “The circumstances surrounding this incident are being investigated.”
Police said the body was found at a property in Cape Town’s Schotsche Kloof district at around 11am on Saturday morning, but did not provide further details.
Adams’ father, Juanito Adams, told South African TV news channel eNCA on Sunday that the family was awaiting autopsy results and had not yet made funeral plans.
“As you all know, this was an untimely death. The family is trying to process this,” Juanito Adams said. “It’s not going to be easy to move on. People say it will get easier, but it won’t. You just learn to live with it.”
Adams was at his best in the World Cup, playing in all three of South Africa’s group matches. He did not play in the match against Canada on June 28, losing 1-0 in the round of 32.
South African Sports Minister Gayton McKenzie said Adams played in his team’s group match against the Czech Republic hours after learning of his grandmother’s death. McKenzie asked the public and media to “exert restraint and compassion” and not speculate about the cause of Adams’ death while authorities conduct the investigation.
There were tributes and tributes to Adams at the England-Norway and Argentina-Switzerland World Cup quarter-final matches on Saturday.
