‘I’ll be there for him’: From little sister to US Senator, Darline steps into Lindsey Graham’s shoes – The Economic Times Video

Just days after the sudden death of Senator Lindsey Graham, South Carolina had a new voice in the U.S. Senate, and it happened to be someone who knew him better than anyone. Governor Henry McMaster appointed Graham’s sister, Darline Graham Nordone, to the Senate seat pro tempore, making history as the first woman to represent South Carolina in the U.S. Senate. Nordone will serve out the remainder of his brother’s current Senate term, which expires in January, before voters choose a permanent successor. She is expected to be sworn into office Wednesday and will be the first woman in South Carolina history to serve in the U.S. Senate. The announcement came during an emotional news conference. Surrounded by longtime Graham staffers, campaign advisers and friends, Nordone fought back tears as he accepted responsibility.
