Meghan is confirmed as a guest judge on MasterChef Australia – asking contestants to ‘create a dish fit for a Duchess’

Meghan Markle’s judge spot on MasterChef Australia will air later this month and chefs will try to create a meal fit for the Duchess.
The former actress filmed the slot three months ago while visiting Australia with her husband Prince Harry during their so-called royal tour.
He said his love of good food and Australia were two reasons he chose to be a guest judge on the country’s biggest TV show.
The 44-year-old Duchess, founder of lifestyle brand As Ever and a keen cook, left Harry flying solo as she spent a day on the Melbourne set of MasterChef Australia filming an episode for the latest series of the cooking competition.
Her involvement was revealed hours later, when Channel Ten released a promotional video showing Meghan stepping onto the MasterChef set in a stylish black outfit to meet Poh Ling Yeow and fellow judges Jean-Christophe Novelli and Sofia Levin.
It was announced today that the episode will air on Sunday, July 26 at 7pm on Channel 10, with Mediaweek reporting: ‘Meghan will ask the contestants to prepare a meal fit for the Duchess.’
The Duchess of Sussex, who was allegedly ‘very angry’ when her co-stars called her ‘royal’ on camera, is said to have prepared a challenge using seasonal ingredients such as Brussels sprouts, celery and Australia’s famous macadamia nuts.
Instead of its own As Ever brand honey, Australian honey as well as quince, lemon, apple, tangerine and strawberry were also made available to the chefs to sweeten the dishes.
‘What drew me to the cuisine of MasterChef Australia? Two things: my love for food and my love for Australia. “It was an easy yes,” Meghan said in a press release announcing the release date.

‘This is a great show. ‘I’m truly honored to be asked to be here with you and review some of these dishes.’
He told the contestants: ‘If there’s a connection you can find when cooking something, what’s the story behind it?… What’s something that comes from your family or a memory… What’s something emotional that we can taste when we taste your food?’
‘These are all things that make me feel really nostalgic,’ he added.
At the time, it was claimed that Meghan’s sensitivity to allegations that her tour of Australia with Harry was profiting from her royal connections led to controversy over her appearance on MasterChef.
The Duchess of Sussex was reportedly “furious” at producers when she was described as “royalty” in a promotion for Australia’s most popular reality TV show.
A source said Meghan and her team had made it ‘specifically’ clear that they did not want the word ‘royal’ to be used.
“We’ve had MasterChef royalty in the kitchen before, but nothing like this,” said fellow judge Poh.
However, a report in Australia claimed that Meghan was unhappy about being described as a royal, despite the term being technically accurate due to her marriage to Harry.

There was also a debate over whether Australian taxpayers should pick up the tab for any police security during the tour, with the couple’s own spokesman repeatedly saying their four-day visit was ‘private’ and not a royal visit.
When Meghan was called ‘royalty’ by MasterChef’s own stars, she and her team were reportedly disappointed when this was said on camera.
‘They were at the door when the movie was shot, so they didn’t know what was said’, a source told news.com.au.
The Australian tour sparked a number of controversies.

However, the total value of the gift bag was just under $200.
