Shots fired in Gymkhana club in Belagavi

Belagavi police are investigating after some gunshots were heard at the Gymkhana club in the military camp area in Belagavi old town on the night of July 14.
Four shots were fired into the back of the club, where some people were playing cards. Hearing these, the police personnel on the side street ran to the club. The club is within walking distance of the city police commissioner’s office.
The staff on duty told the police that there was an attempt to kill Suresh Jalgar. About five people came to the club late in the evening. Two of them stood outside while the rest entered the Okey room. An argument broke out while playing a card game. The trio got into a fight with Suresh Jalgar. One person hit him in the head with the butt of a gun. They then shot him twice. He survived. While the trio fired two shots into the air, Suresh Jalgar managed to escape from the scene.
A police team, including Commissioner of Police Borase Bhushan Gulabrao and Deputy Commissioner Niranjan Raje Urs, visited the spot. They met with club staff and some members.
Police sources said that the incident was captured on security camera. Teams are examining the footage.
