World Cup 2026: World Cup rings for winners as Donald Trump to attend final

FIFA will present World Cup rings to the winners of the final to be played between Argentina and Spain on Sunday, in which Donald Trump will attend.
Winners’ rings are a tradition in American sports where the NFL’s Super Bowl winners are presented with them.
30 rings will be offered to world champions, and an additional 1,996 rings will be available for sale to fans. Each ring’s design will feature a mini World Cup trophy and an engraving on the band.
President Trump, who will present the trophy, has not attended any of the 102 World Cup matches so far and missed all of the USA’s matches before traveling to Belgium in the last 16.
There is a weather warning in New York due to air quality caused by wildfires in Canada, but there is no suggestion that the final at MetLife Stadium will be affected.
FIFA President Gianni Infantino has already said Trump will attend the final, and White House press secretary Karoline Leavitt confirmed he will also attend.
The relationship between Infantino and Trump was at the center of the biggest controversy at this summer’s World Cup; The US president called the FIFA president to review US forward Folarin Balogun’s red card.
The subsequent decision to suspend Balogun’s automatic ban was heavily criticized, with questions being raised regarding the integrity of the tournament.
Balogun was allowed to play in the qualifying match against Belgium, but the USA suffered a 4-1 defeat.
No other red or yellow card penalties have been awarded during this World Cup, despite France and England demanding a review of their respective incidents.
