Mikel Oyarzabal came on for Spain and buried the penalty kick, giving the Spaniards a lead they could not relinquish.
Pedro Porro doubled the difference for Spain in the 58th minute, when he broke through the French defense, beat France goalkeeper Mike Maignan with Dani Olmo’s hard pass and found the back of the net.

Argentina remained off the scoresheet for 85 minutes and made it 1-1 when Lionel Messi positioned Enzo Fernandez just outside the penalty area and the 25-year-old shot goalwards around England goalkeeper Jordan Pickford.
Lautaro Martinez then played the hero who came off the bench and broke into Argentine football and scored the winning goal in stoppage time. In the 92nd minute, Messi made his second assist by collecting the loose ball and making a beautiful pass into the penalty area where Martinez was waiting unmarked. Martinez passed Pickford to send the Argentine fans into a frenzy as he completed the comeback.
Argentina’s comeback ended the Three Lions’ bid for the World Cup title but England can still win the bronze medal by beating France on Saturday.
