Rain soaks Hyderabad on July 20-21; several Telangana districts receive intense showers

It rained for the second consecutive day in various parts of Hyderabad on Tuesday; Evening showers caused waterlogging in some places and traffic slowed down at various important junctions in the city. The rains followed a widespread overnight rain that drenched Hyderabad between the evening of July 20 and the early hours of July 21, dropping temperatures and providing relief from the prevailing hot and humid conditions.

The rain, which started around 5 pm on Tuesday and continued till around 8 pm, affected various parts of the city, including Necklace Road, Jubilee Hills, Banjara Hills, Secunderabad, Mettuguda, Tarnaka, Mehdipatnam, Golconda and surrounding areas.

Heavy rainfall was recorded in many districts of Telangana. According to Telangana Development Planning Society (TGDPS) data, the highest rainfall of 57.5 mm was recorded at Nandigama in Rangareddy; followed by Nagupalle (Bhadradri Kothagudem) with 32.5 mm, Andugulapet (Mancherial) with 28.8 mm, Sonala (Adilabad) with 26.5 mm, Ghattu (Jogulamba Gadwal) with 23.5 mm, Madanpalle with 22.8 mm. (Vikarabad) and 21.8 mm in Edbid (Nirmal).

TGDPS data showed 11.8 mm in Golconda, followed by 11.5 mm in Mehdipatnam, 10.8 mm in Banjara Hills, 10.5 mm in Sivarampally, 10.3 mm in Goshamahal, 9.8 mm in Kavadiguda, 9.5 mm in Amberpet, 9.5 mm in Khairatabad, 9 as of 9 pm. It showed that it recorded mm of rainfall. 7.5 mm in Tarnaka and Jubilee Hills.

Heavy rain is expected in 11 districts

India Meteorological Department (IMD) has released the storm forecast for 11 Telangana districts on Wednesday, July 22, 2026.

According to IMD’s latest bulletin, it is likely to be accompanied by lightning and strong winds at isolated places in Adilabad, Kumaram Bheem Asifabad, Mancherial, Nirmal, Nizamabad, Jagtial, Rajanna Sircilla, Jayashankar Bhupalpally, Mulugu, Bhadradri Kothagudem and Khammam districts.
