Hundreds of people order food online for protestors at Jantar Mantar

Outside the layers of barricades of the Cockroach Janta Party’s (CJP) Jantar Mantar protest site, at the intersection of Tolstoy Marg and Sansad Marg, 18-year-old Aayu Jacob stopped his blue-colored motorcycle for the 20th time since Tuesday morning, July 21, 2026.

“I have made 20 trips here since the morning to deliver pizzas. Apart from this, four orders came from the USA. Other delivery agents from our restaurant are also coming here,” Mr. Jacob said.

Every few minutes, a new delivery person would stop at the intersection to deliver food to the protest area, but not to anyone in particular.

The meal was being ordered by hundreds of people across the country, with Jantar Mantar positioned as the protest site and instructions to give the meal to the protesters. Food items ranged from pizzas, burgers, momos to thaalis.

Mr. Jacob said one of the orders they received for delivery to the facility on Tuesday was a single order for 80 pizzas. “Even our manager came here today to deliver because there were so many orders and we couldn’t make it,” he said, adding that several people wanted to send photos or videos as proof.

Meanwhile, a person took the delivery and promised to give the pizzas to the people at the protest site and spoke to the person who placed the order through Mr. Jacob’s phone, “You are doing a good job. Are you from Bihar? My friend is also from Bihar, talk to him.”

The person who ordered said Hindu Although she was from Bihar, she was currently studying nursing in Bangalore. The person on the phone said, “I had written NEET in the past, then the question paper was also leaked. Then I gave up and started nursing. I can’t come there right now, but I wanted to show support to the protesting students so I ordered pizza.”

24-year-old Govind, who came on his bike to distribute food, said he had made 18 trips so far. “Orders ranged from 10 cups of chai to 34 burgers and 200 samosas. I am sending photos of the food distributed to some people,” he said.

Mr Govind, who used only his first name, said some people wanted to deliver the food to the protest site. “I only took 20 rupees for this order but it took me an hour to get the food inside and come back. But I did it anyway. I was happy to distribute food to students inside. I have two children too and these people are protesting for a just cause,” he said.

Stopping to deliver his sixth order, 42-year-old Shahroz Akbar gave the momos to a person in the area who promised to distribute them. The delivery instructions on the food delivery app on his phone read: “Please deliver this to everyone at the jantar mushroom protest site.”

Mr. Akbar showed on his phone that he had another delivery that had just arrived at the protest site. Next to him, another deliveryman stopped to deliver burgers that a person ordered from abroad.

Ayush Rai, one of the volunteers at the protest site, said that he and his brother had been bringing food from the intersection to the protest site for hours and now there were not many buyers.

By 10pm, even delivering had become difficult, as many people were ordering food online and many more people were physically bringing food with them to the protest site.

This forced CJP to post on social media at night asking people not to order food online to the protest site. “India is a beautiful country with such beautiful people. Thank you for sending food to the protesters. We are so overwhelmed. BUT we received more than enough food for today – please don’t send more!” CJP’s official trailer was released on X at 22:55
