Chittoor police arrest 42-year-old in POCSO case within a day

Chittoor district police arrested a 42-year-old man within 24 hours of filing a case for alleged sexual assault of an underage girl in Bangarupalyam mandal on Tuesday night (July 21, 2026), Superintendent of Police Tushar Dudi said.
According to police, the incident occurred on July 17. The minor disclosed the alleged assault to his parents, after which his mother filed a complaint at Bangarupalyam police station on the night of July 20.

Based on the complaint, the police registered a case under Sections 65(1), 75(2), 78(2) and 351(2) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) and Section 4 read with Section 3(a) of the Protection of Children from Sexual Offenses (POCSO) Act, 2012.
Special police teams, working under the supervision of Deputy SP (Palamaner) Degala Prabhakar, arrested the accused near the Paleru flyover on the night of July 21. He was later referred to the courthouse. The SP praised the Bangarupalyam police team for their quick action.
