Women’s Super League: Arsenal sign Spain goalkeeper Misa Rodriguez on free

Arsenal signed Spanish goalkeeper Misa Rodriguez, its sixth transfer this summer, on a free transfer.
The 27-year-old player was transferred to the Women’s Super League team after leaving Real Madrid at the end of last season.
Rodriguez, who will wear the number 16 jersey, will compete for minutes with Daphne van Domselaar and Anneke Borbe, who struggled with injuries last season.
“I am very proud to have joined this great club. Arsenal are one of the best clubs in the world and I am really excited to be part of the team and take on this new challenge,” said Rodriguez.
“I want to help us compete for trophies and make more history together with our fans.”
Rodriguez made 215 appearances in his six years at Real Madrid – a club record – and was named captain last year.
Since making her national team debut in 2021, she has made 34 appearances for Spain, including three for the team with which she won the 2023 Women’s World Cup, but has since lost the starting role to Barcelona’s Cata Coll.
Arsenal have had a busy transfer window as they prepare for the 2026-27 Women’s Super League season; Georgia Stanway, Ona Batlle, Selina Cerci, Geraldine Reuteler and Lisa Baum strengthened Renee Slegers’ cast.
They finished second in the WSL last season and reached the semi-finals of the Women’s Champions League.
